Hello everyone,

This email will serve as notice of the 2018 Annual General Meeting that will be held on Sunday November 4 at 7:00pm at the Esquimalt Recreation Center.

Please show your support to this club and sport by attending and getting involved.

Please note, VELA is 100% volunteer driven and we’re in need of your support. There are a number of vacancies coming this year. Tackling a position on the board is not a massive commitment and usually entails approximately 8 meetings and some behind the scenes work generally organizing and coordinating.

The perfect season for our Bantam C team this year! After taking the Island and Playoff banner in June, they had to come from behind in the Provincials to overcome a tough (and BIG) West Kootenay’s team to take the Provincial banner. Amazing outcome!!

VELA’s Bantam B team competed in the 2018 Provincial Championship’s in Richmond over the July 5-8 weekend and had an outstanding tournament over the four days. They lost the semifinal game against Kelowna in an absolute nail biter finish, forcing a bronze medal game which they won convincingly. A great finish to a great season.

Bantam C take Gold at the Island play downs

The Novice Selects had an amazing run at the Jack Crosby All Star tournament this past weekend. Finishing first overall in the round robin portion of the tournament with a near perfect 4-0-1 record. Following that up with a convincing win against a very competitive Coquitlam Adanacs team in the semi finals. They fell just short in the gold medal game against the JDF selects team. Very proud of this group of players, coaches and parents!
